Superconfident

The liturgy for today possesses varied messages. Rich in values, the readings appeared to be a complicated set of literature to analyze. I decided to divide my commentaries and now here are the things I want to share for this Sunday...

The Undaunted Concern of God for Humanity

It is God who created and preserves the universe. The first reading and the Gospel itself presents the love of God and the dependence of human race as contingent beings. God is a father who does not forget nor forsake His children. God not only cares for man but also for the entire creation. Man is the most important creature for God and He will never neglect us even the less important ones are always provided by God.

The Worthy Servants

The least common denominator of the second reading from Saint Paul's letter to the Corinthians and the narrative from Saint Matthew is the stewardship of man to God. Since God is a god who never neglects His creation, humanity must do their best to give something back to God by serving Him with all our hearts and minds.

Only One God

We were told by religion classes that there is only one God. That seems very academic for people who are used to classroom set ups. Meanwhile, we can say that we need to ponder on the oneness of God even more. Saying that there is only one God means we should not look for another object of worship. We must not worship mammon. Anything or anyone that occupies that "supposed to be" place of God is another god. It is time we look deep into ourselves and interrogate our hearts if we are worshiping our careers, or our loved ones.

Worrying is a Sin

Can anyone of us add even one minute to our lives by worrying. We are told to be dependent on God because He will always do the rest. Things we cannot do, we have to lift up to God. God is always there to support those who trust in Him.

Seek First the Kingdom of God

If we think of God first, He will rejoice and be glad to us. We may be able to receive money and power as long as they are only second to our desire to please the Lord and to attain teh heavenly rewards that awaits the people who trust in Him.
