Last Full Day Turned Emotional

Wowowee and Unsudden End

Isang mainit na balita ito for the past few days even from last Sunday pa. May volvo at may ilang vans.

From Musician To Politician, Letter For Music

I have to quote him and it goes ...

Dear President Aquino,

As Music Director/Principal Conductor of the Filipinos’ leading orchestra, I can say that it was a momentous occasion for us, the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra (PPO), to have performed for your inauguration on June 30, 2010 and to have helped welcome you as the next President; it is equally a great pleasure for us to honor your mother, Ms. Corazon Aquino, for the one-year anniversary of her passing.

We look forward to proudly representing the Philippines and doing our part in promoting the arts in the country and abroad in times to come, as the PPO has done now for several decades. As you know, a country’s strong standing within the international realm depends on a plethora of successes, which you have already been working hard to ensure.

One aspect of a country’s growth depends also on its cultural components – this includes the arts, which in your country are yearning to be shared by Filipinos with fellow Filipinos but also with the rest of the world. The amount of talent in this country is impressive.

Nevertheless, due to recent changes in the preceding administration, funding for the Cultural Center of the Philippines, which is the top exponent of cultural promotion in the country, was drastically cut. This has caused an enormous burden on the individual constituents, in which are included, among others, the PPO.

President Aquino, without music and arts, life would be quite dull – not only for professional musicians, but for the thousands of Filipinos we reach each year by way of bringing music to them. As an example, think of your inauguration without the PPO; it would still have been a great inauguration and your speech to the Filipino people would still have been as moving as it was. But the event itself might have lacked a certain special quality which music brings through its universal reach.

Filipinos are optimistic about many things in light of your recent inauguration, albeit realizing that you are very busy in ascertaining the country is headed again on the right path. I am also optimistic that you will understand the economic plights that are facing the arts, and in particular the CCP and Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra.

Therefore, I have written you today to welcome you at any of the Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra’s upcoming performances at the Cultural Center of the Philippines, as well as to any of the other wonderful cultural events that the CCP is proud to present to the Filipino people. I would be happy to give a detailed listing of these events to you or to your cultural attaché.

Maraming salamat po for your time, and I hope to be able to interest you in some of our productions. We wish you the very best as our new President!

Sincerely,

Olivier Ochanine
Music Director/Principal Conductor
Philippine Philharmonic Orchestra

All She Is To Me Is All To Me

It's my Mom's birthday!

One of the happiest and most eagerly awaited moment in my life. Grabe ang saya kasi two years to go na lang 60th na niya.

FOr my MOM... I want to dedicate this page to her.

A new entry na sobrang sentimental so I say to her...

[from http://www.mothersdaycelebration.com/mothers-day-poem.html#Wonderful-Mother]

Only One Mother

Hundreds of stars in the pretty sky,
Hundreds of shells on the shore together,
Hundreds of birds that go singing by,
Hundreds of lambs in the sunny weather.
Hundreds of dewdrops to greet the dawn,
Hundreds of bees in the purple clover,
Hundreds of butterflies on the lawn,
But only one mother the world wide over.

Wonderful Mother
God made a wonderful mother,
A mother who never grows old;
He made her smile of the sunshine,
And He moulded her heart of pure gold;
In her eyes He placed bright shining stars,
In her cheeks fair roses you see;
God made a wonderful mother,
And He gave that dear mother to me.

Listening To His First Speech In Congress

The president of the Philippines delivered his first state of the nation address kanina lang.

I have the opportunity to watch it habang madagim at nagbabanta ang ulan.

Tip of the iceberg lang ang pinatikim niya.

Disciple's Prayer In Toto

"Pray All The Time You Can"

First Reading Genesis 18: 20 - 32

20 Then the LORD said, "Because the outcry against Sodom and Gomor'rah is great and their sin is very grave,
21 I will go down to see whether they have done altogether according to the outcry which has come to me; and if not, I will know."
22 So the men turned from there, and went toward Sodom; but Abraham still stood before the LORD.
23 Then Abraham drew near, and said, "Wilt thou indeed destroy the righteous with the wicked?
24 Suppose there are fifty righteous within the city; wilt thou then destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous who are in it?
25 Far be it from thee to do such a thing, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous fare as the wicked! Far be that from thee! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"
26 And the LORD said, "If I find at Sodom fifty righteous in the city, I will spare the whole place for their sake."
27 Abraham answered, "Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord, I who am but dust and ashes.
28 Suppose five of the fifty righteous are lacking? Wilt thou destroy the whole city for lack of five?" And he said, "I will not destroy it if I find forty-five there."
29 Again he spoke to him, and said, "Suppose forty are found there." He answered, "For the sake of forty I will not do it."
30 Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak. Suppose thirty are found there." He answered, "I will not do it, if I find thirty there."
31 He said, "Behold, I have taken upon myself to speak to the Lord. Suppose twenty are found there." He answered, "For the sake of twenty I will not destroy it."
32 Then he said, "Oh let not the Lord be angry, and I will speak again but this once. Suppose ten are found there." He answered, "For the sake of ten I will not destroy it."

Second Reading Colossians 2: 12 - 14

12 and you were buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the working of God, who raised him from the dead.
13 And you, who were dead in trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses,
14 having canceled the bond which stood against us with its legal demands; this he set aside, nailing it to the cross.

Gospel Reading Luke 11: 1 - 13

1 He was praying in a certain place, and when he ceased, one of his disciples said to him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples."
2 And he said to them, "When you pray, say: "Father, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come.
3 Give us each day our daily bread;
4 and forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive every one who is indebted to us; and lead us not into temptation."
5 And he said to them, "Which of you who has a friend will go to him at midnight and say to him, `Friend, lend me three loaves;
6 for a friend of mine has arrived on a journey, and I have nothing to set before him';
7 and he will answer from within, `Do not bother me; the door is now shut, and my children are with me in bed; I cannot get up and give you anything'?
8 I tell you, though he will not get up and give him anything because he is his friend, yet because of his importunity he will rise and give him whatever he needs.
9 And I tell you, Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10 For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
11 What father among you, if his son asks for a fish, will instead of a fish give him a serpent;
12 or if he asks for an egg, will give him a scorpion?
13 If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!"

Commentary

In the first reading we see a friend servant who is in business of knowing how good his god is. We see a very patient God. It is so tempting for many of us to be annoyed if somebody continued asking and asking. I grow impatient when I experience this kind. God is very patient with Abraham. Furthermore, we see a God who is patient with stubborn people like those in Sodom and Gomorrah.

God is exhibiting how merciful he is for Abraham. When there is hope God is confident. 50, 45, 40, 30, 20, and 10 are numbers indexical that there is hope. When there are still people people who clings to the truth and to God, there there is hope.

The second reading expounds on the realization of this hope. When Jesus Christ died and rise again for all believers as sign of God's mercy. The Old Testament story is only an analogue to the more grand act of God fulfilled in the New Testament. God is so willing to spare a city the sake of the 10 righteous individuals. the real story is that god is willing to spare the whole of mankind from destruction for the sake of His Son who became man himself.

The first reading is about Abraham's prayer of intercession. The second reading is about the incarnation of what all men of good will prayed for. The Gospel Reading is still about Prayer. More than anything else, it is in prayer that we learn most of God. It is in prayer that Abraham learned of God's mercy, patience, and love. That disciple is very correct when he asked Jesus to teach them how to pray. Automatically, Jesus taught them a prayer which they say is the Lord's Prayer but it is simply not. The Lord's Prayer is the one in John Chapter 17. This prayer that Jesus taught the disciples is to be called properly as teh Disciple's Prayer. Precisely because it is the prayer to be prayed by a disciple. What elements of prayer can we learn from this prayer?

Address; Jesus said "When you pray, say 'Father..." It is important to address God properly and say who He is. Father, makes us a family to god and not enemy. I use to start my prayer with "Heavenly Father, God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob" because that is how He introduce himself to Moses. There are other titles I use to call God when I start a prayer
- Divine Father, Maker of Heaven and Earth
- God Our Father, King of Heaven, Ruler of the World
- Most Loving Father, Creator of the Universe
- Almighty God, One Living and True Father

Adoration; It is very important that we worship, revere and exalt the Lord in beginning our prayer. Jesus included the phrase "...hallowed be thy name."
I use to say "be exalted God" or "let all heavenly creature bend their knees before you. All living and non living things sing praise to you. My heart and soul adores you Oh God."

Offering; Jesus went on and included "...Your kingdom come, Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." It is like saying "Lord I offer myself for your works so I can expand your kingdom. I offer myself to you as a living sacrifice for your works and ministry." A disciple shall not forget to tell God that he is willing to offer everything for the propagation of godly activities. Every morning I include this in my prayer "...Lord I offer you through the Heart of Mary, and in union with Holy Eucharistic Sacrifice my prayers, actions, joys, and sufferings of this day so that all men be saved and be lead to heaven."

Thanksgiving; It is important to thank God for saving you and allotting a place for you in heaven. I thank him for daily blessings that I receive.

Supplication; Let's not forget that our God is a God of Providence. Ask for today and you will receive today's blessings. God's blessings are new every day new every morning. Do not ask for tomorrows goods when all Jesus saying is "Give us today our daily bread." Look He did not say weekly or yearly bread. He said daily.

Contrition; Asking God's forgiveness is another main element of prayer. No one is sinless. We have to pray for God's forgiveness but Jesus added that we too must forgive our neighbors. It is not valid to ask god's forgiveness if you are not willing to give it away.

Resolution; A promise not to commit the same sin again must follow after the penitential prayer. There is no use asking God's forgiveness without willingness to reform your life.

Deliverance; Lastly Jesus wants us to pray so we can resist the temptations that may come along and keep ourselves pure in the sight of the Lord. "...do not bring us to the test but deliver us form evil." Before I start my day, I ask God to give me self control and discipline. Bless me that I may be far from any danger that can harm me and my loved ones.

Application

The readings of this Sunday teaches us that our God is weak when we pray. We also have to make prayers audible and often so God may be moved by it. persistence is a virtue in prayer. We see Abraham persistently asking God and interceding for the people. We hear of Jesus telling us about the persistent man asking his friend at night. He will get what he wants because of his persistence. It is true in prayer and in daily life.

Moments Of Finishing Touches

CASE TO CASE VS. FACE TO FACE

Maraming nabago sa Case To Case last time na napanuod ko.

Grabe ang hirap kayang pumili out of eleven finalists.

Naaksidente pa nga siya before the show, tech rehearsal yun.

Kaso sobrang bata pa niya pero watch out. hmm....

In Search Of My Giftedness In Music

I am an ouido conductor. I learn my orchestration and ensemble mechanics by watching in youtube and reading blogs of well known conductors. I rely on my impeccable ears and trust my creative hand movements parallel to imaginary materialization of aural transcription. I did, not only once but several times, asked myself why pursue when there is lack of education. A lot of students out there are studying it formally and what can I say when I am placed side by side with them.

While I know that in leadership it is said that Education enhances ones leadership. I would have to answer using any of these three versions. ;

1. God's Anointing
2. I pass the three requirements
3. Passion outruns education

I would want to expound on these one by one.

Number one will point us to the issue of destiny. I really do not adhere to the theory of predestination. I am 50-50 when it comes to destiny. I believe in absolute human freewill and usage of intellect. I am not saying it is my destiny, I just believe that it is a calling to be a conductor. It is up to me if I will respond to the call or not. I f I do, then heaven will exploit all means just to let that happen. I saw conducting as a ministry. A form of service to men and a prayer to God. Whenever I am conducting my quintet and my vocal ensemble, I feel like I am in heaven dancing with the saints and archangels. I can see that there are metamusical meaning to what I do far from being entertainment and aesthetics.

I like my second answer. I pass the three requirements of generic preparatory conducting skills and qualifications. I am a musician and director; I am a choreographer; and I am a leader. It is my habit to lead and gain experiences and training for leadership. A music director, a creative choreographer, and a competent leader makes up a conductor [don't get me wrong, it is preparatory steps I am talking not the complicated one]. Nonetheless, conducting is not easy. I experienced being ridiculed and humiliated at first. I was downgraded and often advised not to pursue. But courage seems to be my twin. She was perhaps there when I was born. I did not quit. As of now, I am in preparation to study in a music school formally. While I still feel like my leadership training isn't enough and inadequate, I want to continue attending fora and symposiums {symposia} in leadership and team-building. My goal is not to be a stupid musician. I want to continue being an honorable fighter.

I started as a sound operator in high school. I was opportuned to be in the theater guild. I became a music scorer. While I was in college taking up Communication Arts, I concentrated on music directing for drama. So my real work is adding flavor to the emotion of a scene. I choose the most appropriate music for a certain stage play and later on also became a music director for short films. I became a sound editor and a re mixer. I eventually ended up as a Pipo Cifra. From theater to film and then to FM radio play lists. I use to line up the songs to be aired in a radio practicum. I am by profession a music director.

What about being a choreographer. The second thing that a person should be after becoming a music director is to be a choreographer if he wants to conduct in an ensemble. I really love moving my hands when the beats are on. Automatically my body creates steps that are fitting to the movements of a conductor. The rooms are getting smaller when I have music in me. I always imagine a group of musicians performing in front of me. And since my ears are coast to coast sensitive, I can clearly illustrate in my mind when they will move by hearing exactly the instruments in my iPod.

No doubt about my leadership. I was born from the family of leaders. Since elementary I am in every committee. I became the Alpha Company Commander Lieutenant Colonel during my ROTC days. I am a political science fanatic. I became a theater director at the age of 15, third year high school. Became the SK chairman at the age of 19. I am leading my peers whenever we are together and when my father died I became the prior member of our home. I formed my own vocal ensemble at the age of 20. Attended seven leadership trainings and symposiums. I am a leader. Leadership is the skill that will let you become visible. A leader when mixed with basketball players becomes the team captain; when mixed with armies becomes a general; when mixed with dancers becomes the dance troupe leader; when mixed with writers becomes an editor; when mixed with businessmen becomes a millionaire; when mixed with actors becomes a director; and thus when a leader is mixed with musicians---he becomes a conductor!

My third answer can only be proven by experience and comparison. We need to look at the industry and see how many of them who are practicing the profession are indeed graduates of that certain courses. I am convinced that no matter how educated you are, if you lack passion you will never be best in your career. You will only produce substandard results. Passion is the special power that vivifies your talent. It is the engine of your success. I know in my heart that I can outrun my contemporaries by using my passion in conducting. I will just recite every morning of my life, "I am the conductor" "I am a conductor" and I will have the guts to continue. To persevere!

Sometimes we are just late in finding our personal interests. I can inject artistic decoration to the musicality of a chorus or a quintet. I have sentimental gifts inside of me and I don't want to die until they are exhausted and utilized to the full. One day I will face God and say I have done all. Even the talents that seems to be impossible for m to enhance.

If you have doubts with your calling, do not surrender. Give your vocation a fighting chance.

Should There Be Sort Of Truth Commission?

The formulation of a Truth Commission initiated by the president himself, benigno Simeon Aquino III, became one of the hottest issues in newspapers and internet blogs for the past one month. Former Chief Justice Hilario Davide's appointment as head of the commission and Joseph Estrada's criticism against that selection ignited the issue even more.

Now, the question is, should there be a truth commission after all to invistigate the abuses of made by the former administration? Constitutionally, there is no such thing as a truth commission. It is presumed from the very beginning that our political system operates based on trust. The preamble is clear when it states the invocation to the Almighty in establishing a just and humane society, forming a government which will enshrine the culture, values, and aspirations of all Filipino people. No one can cite the preamble in any court procedure and hearing but still no one can undermine its socio-political and axiological power. truth is a Filipino value. It is an ethical policy that maintained stability and order in the early Balangay system of the pre-hispanic Malayan Filipinos. Truth is a familiar virtue that showcases the radiance of Filipinos as a refined nation with integrity and honor. That is why a Truth Commission is nowhere to be found in Article IX of the 1987 Constitution.

The Philippines adopted a presidential type of government. As a little background, there are two forms of polity--democracy and mobocracy. Democracy is still divided into two types. There is a parliamentary type and a presidential type. Prime feature of the presidential system is that there are three branches of government intentionally designed for checks and balances. The presence of the three main branches which are the executive, legislative, and judicial, made presidential form of government very promising. But throughout history, the independence of the three from one another made room for betrayal and abuses which turned the government into a defective beaurocracy.

To ensure that these three functions according to the mandate given by the law, the drafters of the 1987 Constitution provided a separate office for Accountability of Public Officers. Hence, the Ombudsman entered the scene. The Office of the Ombudsman is something constitutional. It is created for the following purposes as cited form Article XI, section 12 of the present Constitution;

"The Ombudsman and his Deputies, as protectors of the people, shall act promptly on complaints filed in any form or manner against public officials or employees of the Government, or any subdivision, agency or instrumentality thereof, including government-owned or controlled corporations, and shall, in appropriate cases, notify the complainants of the action taken and the result thereof."

This provision should be enough for us to sleep peacefully at night without any fear of thiefs climbing the walls and breaking the locks of our national treasury while making midnight deals under the table.

I am saddened by the fact that the Ombudsman, in the person of Merciditas Gutierrez, failed to immortalize these ideal purposes. Now, it is she who is under public scrutiny. The very person whom we expect to be independent and objective is accused of being partial and blind when it comes to the crimes involving the former president and the first gentleman. Now, there are cases for impeachment filed against her. If the Ombudsman, in the first place, is true to the calling of his/her office then there surely will be no Truth Commission at all.

The problem lies in our cultural amnesia. This nation forgot the values kept by her ancestors. It si so shameful by the way that in a country founded in truth, peace, jsutice, and liberty there is a need for a truth commission. If betrayal of public trust continues then no matter who the Ombudsman and chair of commission is, the problem will continue. The decay is severe. I won't be surprised if I wake up one morning and ther eis already a Transparency Commission or a Fairness Commission or a peace Commission, all not in the Constitution. I am not saying that the institution of the Truth Commission is an unwise decision from the president. My point is, there should have been no commission for truth if the offices created by the constitution itself functioned rightfully and ethically. Alongside with a truth commission, there must be Truth Formation in schools and public offices. Aren't we losing the spirit of true Filipinos?

Unusual Water Shortage

"Dam if you do, Dam if you don't"

It's all about dams these days.

In fact, talo talaga tayo when it comes to the development of neighboring countries.

What is happening? Hay...

Meaningful Weekend After Heavy Storms

Suddenly, I Feel Like Summer

Papunta na kasi siya ng Saudi at gusto kami makita at makasama man lang just before he leaves the country. Sabya din namang dating ni Mama an hour after they settled. Nagluto ng adobong manok as our supper at talaga namang ang saya ng gabi kahit hindi na nga ako uminom dahil kalalasing ko lang last Wednesday. Iwas muna.

Maaga kaming nagising noong Sabado.

Sobrang saya.

Ako naman dali dali dahil sisimba ako by 9:30am.

Nilagang buto buto.

Biglang dating ni Kuya right after lunch.

Hala sige... lkigo kami kahit umuulan.

Madaling araw at tulog pa ako.

Happy moments with family is worth a million diamonds. Until then, we will be waiting for another memorable summer to spend with the entire family.

It is an extended summer indeed! =}

So Close Yet So Far

Whenever I come by the house of a friend, I do not expect him or her to be in the kitchen all hour long as I wait in the sofa being quiet while I have all the stories in the world to tell him/her but I couldn't because I have no one to talk to. I hate that. Of course, I am certain everybody wouldn't want that too. We want our friends to be in front of us listening to our stories first before they prepare a meal. I didn't say that preparing a meal for a guest is not important but it is not the most important. Just for a while make sure that you entertain a guest by showing how welcome they are. Sometimes treating me like a family makes me feel welcome and at home. When they let me inside the kitchen and we both prepare the meal together and soon eat teh meal together... oohhh nothing compares to that.

We all want to be welcome. In this aspect of life, communication is very vital. When you are visited by a friend or a kin or anybody, let them speak and listen. Simply listen.

I believe that was the mistake of Martha in the gospel for this Sunday. Martha prepared the meal and forgot to be with Jesus first. Jesus' intention is not to eat but to teach. Martha is so busy to impressed Jesus but Mary is too busy welcoming Jesus. Martha welcomed Jesus into the house as a visitor but Mary welcomed Jesus into her heart as her Master. Is it tantamount to saying that work is less important? No.

Work is very important. Our Creator is a Worker. God is teh first worker. God was busy on teh first six days before He rested on the Seventh day. We glorify God by our works. We have ministries in the Church and we have proffessions so we can have something to offer God. We can turn our jobs into prayer when we do it to glorify God. We can turn our jobs into offerings when we toil for God and offer our salaries to God every Sunday as our tithes. God created us for work. Six days we must labor and on the sevent day we will rest. Notice that the number of days for work is greater than the number of rest day. When it is the day for rest, we rest for the Lord. We dedicate it to listening into his word. That is why we Christians begin our week with the Lord's Day. Sunday is the Lord's Day and the first day of our week. Saint Joseph is even the patron saint for laborers. We are to work.

But when our works lead us far from God and make us distant from our goal which is glorifying God, the it is now detrimental. When we think of work as the center of our duty in accepting a visitor then we are loosing sense of visiatations meaning. We may be close to God but distant in a way. We may be religiously present in the Church and in all Godly activities but spiritually absent. We may be filled with all humane honors for helping and sacrificing but empty when it comes to heavenly fulfillments. Martha was so close yet so far.

When I was taking up New Testament Studies, I have learned that there are two reasons why Saint Luke vivified this story in his gospel account.
1. To present how Jesus treated men and women discipels with equality- during those times, it is very unusal for a woman to sit at the feet of the Master while there are men disciples who are with her too. Martha must have felt that Mary should not be there because it is not a feminine business but an affair of the masculines. Women must have a place in the church of God.

2. To critic the Scribes and the Pharisees. Jesus always points his allegories towards the priests in the temple because they were suppose to exhibit the true marks of God's servants but lost somewhere in their position. Jesus wants them to know that their works of the laws and their sacrifices will not carry them to heaven. Only Jesus and his words can bring you to God's Kingdom. Jesus will always echo that HE DESIRES MERCY NOT SACRIFICE. Our fasting, abstinence, and almsgiving will never be enough to bring us to heaven. Jesus alone can redeem us. The scribes and the pharisees are always praying long prayers, always fasting, and always doing sacrifices on altars and they thought that is enough. Jesus says no. being at the feet of the Master like what Mary exemplified is what he needs. Sad to say, it is only Mary, Mary mother of James, Mary Magdalene, and John the Beloved who were at the feet of Jesus during his crucifixion. Only the people who have enough mercy and compassion can be at the feet of Jesus whenHe really needs it. That is why Jesus said, I desire mercy not sacrifice.

Application

Our long prayers are act of being busy reciting words that makes us tired and exhausted like Martha. Why not contemplate. Contemplationis a very good act of prayer. It is listening to the words of Jesus and having nothing to do. Nothing will make you tired when you are silently sitting in front of the Blessed Sacrament or an open Bible contemplating about Jesus and heaven and the glory of God, the beauty of creation. This is what Mary did in the Gospel. This is what we should do. Maybe you are a busy lector, an organizer in the parish, a lay minister, or a youth coordinator and you have alot of activities for God. Think about it, do you really have time for God or you only have time for the parish. Do not istake Activity for Accomplishments. Thye are two different things. Jesus told his disciples, "Come to me all of you who are tired and I will give you rest" Mary has chosen the better part. All we need is to be adjacent to the King. Be busy for the King and not only for the kingdom. We may be defocused by too many works. Pause for a while and be alone with God. Be under his feet. Listen to him.

Leaders Operate In 3D

Recently, I heard the news that later this year they will let us watch Titanic in 3D cinema. I am very certain that supporters and fans will really enjoy it the same way as in 1998. At the rate things are going, the 3D brought golden advancement in visual technology and the cinema was never the same again. Not only is 3D available in cinemas. In one episode of Party Pilipinas, Philippine TV dared to incorporate 3D technology to improve Filipino primetime entertainment.

No wonder 3D will soon reign in all visual related arts and media. I have concocted that it is because people wants to see reality in their very eyes unfolded in all dimensions possible. When I was in third year high school, I only knew of Cartesian Coordinate plane for one to one correspondence of points constituting a plane figure. Not until I mature reading stuffs in Analytic Geometry that I found out about Dimensional Coordinate Plane. There are three axes which are the basis of space figure and used by engineers to design perfectly measured buildings and constructions alike. There are 3 coordinates now, namely; X, Y, and Z axis. We are living in a world of space figures and not just plane figures. There are other sides, other views to look at. So in drafting, there are different points of view. We have top view, side view, and front view.

But more than being an avid of Analytic Geometry, I am a conventional leadership trainer. It is my passion to speak in front of future leaders giving them insights I have had in my experiences with Christian leadership, stage directing, and ensemble conducting. At one point last time, the other day to be exact, I thought of 3D movies while on my way to an event. We were invited to have dinner in a barrio fiesta and in the house of a municipal councilor. I've talked to her boyfriend about how it is like to have a politician girlfriend. On my way home, I tried connecting what we've talked about and the new 3D character of Film industry.

I've learned that leaders must see everything in 3D. There has to be, in our modern generation, 3D leaders who looks at 3 dimensions of time all at once.

The first dimension is the Yesterday Dimension. It is very essential that leaders are learning from history. Great leaders always study events that took place in the past. Archives are very vital so leaders can see pattern and progressions of political accomplishments. In this way, there will be old ideas to follow and revive while leaders will also avoid the mistakes of former administrations.

The second dimension is the Today Dimension. Not only is the 3D leader well versed in history but so too is he/she aware of current events. It is not good to be stacked in the past. There are some factors in the present time that can influence the sail of his/her ship. I have seen leaders who really excel in their crafts and are able to use present situations in business and political realms for their advantage. The secret is to be at the right place at the right time.

Leaders can never ever be efficient without the third dimension which is the Future Dimension. Basically, a leader is somebody who is bringing a group of people to a better, if not the best, future they can ever have. A 3D leader is capable of seeing a positive and brighter tomorrow while at the same time capable also of bringing his people there. If he cannot do this, he is only a dreamer. the primary task of a leader is to project and envision an ideal yet practical paradigms to uplift the state of living in his country, institution or team.

Analyzing, it is not at all easy to be a 3D leader. Most of the people who tried are defocused and disillusioned due to lack of concrete planning and strategies. I suggest that in doing so, a 3D leader must hold on to the three basic qualities for 3D Leadership.

Core Values and Commitments

Since I am proposing 3D Leadership, why not give 3 D's for leadership values that must govern how 3D leaders operate.

Dedication. It is hard to be dedicated if the leader isn't clear of his advocacy and does not possess enough passion for it. The distinct advocacy separates him from the rests. Hence, a leader must be first dedicated top his mission, second to his organization and members. His dedication to his office is tertiary.

Discernment. How is it possible for a leader to project and formulate goals while applying products of history and current events? It can only happen when there is enough time spent by the leader for contemplation and consultation. A leader should learn to free himself from hectic working hours so he can pause and ponder. It is also the duty of his people to give him space and control the amount of burdens. He must be given time to think and plan ahead. He must learn to envision the next years of their lives.

Decisiveness. A 3D leader is a leader who is firm to his decision. He must have a certain stance to any issues. He is open minded to consult and listen to others opinion but when it is time for him to decide he must be stiff and sure. He must not be someone who change his mind easily and who cannot stand in his decision. He must hold on to it. A leader who wants to be an effective ruler must see to it that he is making good decisions that will lead them to a better future.

Synthesis

A 3D leader is a leader who sees the Yesterday, Today, and Future all at the same time. He must possess the three qualities which all start in letter D. They are Dedication, Discernment, and Decisiveness. An indecisive leader is a leader people will always doubt. New leaders of today must dream of becoming 3D leaders.

With Music And Beverages

Just before I loose hope in expecting something special for a July 14,pinatunayan ng kapalaran na hindi maaaring hindi maging maligaya ang araw na iyon.

Piyesta pala kahapon ng Banago. I never thought of that. Ilang taon na ako nagce-celebrate ng July 14 and I didn't know na piyesta yun ng Banago. Anyway, ininvite kami ni Alger para kumain ng dinner sa bahay nila Keshia sa Bnago at maginuman na rin pagkatapos. Here are the music that entertained us habang wala pang connection ang linya ng Meralco;

Cute Without The E ng Taking Back Sunday

Here are some availbale clippings of the show sa internet;

Pointless Journey But Still Moving On

"What would someone do if it is a rainy afternoon or dusk? The day draws to a close without a sunset but a sorrounding is the only panorama. This one seems to be lonesome. I can only dream of a ballet dancer to be with me... to cheer me up. "

03-CC-04, July 14, 2007, Silang Cavite

IN SEARCH OF A DESTINY AFTER THE STORM

Parang sumabog na lahat ng telescope ko. They are in all direction. I don't even a have a compass to set on a journey after the milestone. Ang buhay ko, it seems that there is no direction.

Alam ko yan from the beginning.

May imbalance.

Time to go ahead for another journey and the direction is uncertain.

Typhoons and Memoirs; All A Life's Luck

"This is what I hate. A day celebrating Lara's memories while a typhoon is devatating the ocassion"

Asar! Anyway, I just have to make the most out of it.

Jurisprudence of God {Our Legal Obligations}

Directives
Instructions
Provisions
Regulations
Statutes
Order
Decree
Commandments
All points to one... that is the LAW.

First Reading Deuteronomy 30:10-14

10 if you obey the voice of the LORD your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul.
11 "For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you, neither is it far off.
12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, `Who will go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?'
13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, `Who will go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?'
14 But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it.

Second Reading Colossians 1:15-20

15 He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation;
16 for in him all things were created, in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or authorities -- all things were created through him and for him.
17 He is before all things, and in him all things hold together.
18 He is the head of the body, the church; he is the beginning, the first-born from the dead, that in everything he might be pre-eminent.
19 For in him all the fulness of God was pleased to dwell,
20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.

GOSPEL Luke 10:25-37

25 And behold, a lawyer stood up to put him to the test, saying, "Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?"
26 He said to him, "What is written in the law? How do you read?"
27 And he answered, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself."
28 And he said to him, "You have answered right; do this, and you will live."
29 But he, desiring to justify himself, said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?"
30 Jesus replied, "A man was going down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and he fell among robbers, who stripped him and beat him, and departed, leaving him half dead.
31 Now by chance a priest was going down that road; and when he saw him he passed by on the other side.
32 So likewise a Levite, when he came to the place and saw him, passed by on the other side.
33 But a Samaritan, as he journeyed, came to where he was; and when he saw him, he had compassion,
34 and went to him and bound up his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; then he set him on his own beast and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.
35 And the next day he took out two denarii and gave them to the innkeeper, saying, `Take care of him; and whatever more you spend, I will repay you when I come back.'
36 Which of these three, do you think, proved neighbor to the man who fell among the robbers?"
37 He said, "The one who showed mercy on him." And Jesus said to him, "Go and do likewise."

COMMENTARY

God’s law is the central theme of today’s mass readings. In the first reading, Moses reminded the Israelites to keep the commandments and statues of the Lord written in the book of the law. But more than that, Moses followed it up by saying that these laws are not only written in the book of law but it is also already in our hearts. It is something that is innate in every person. As said by St. Paul, the gentiles though they may not heard of these laws have the law written in their hearts and this is precisely the thesis of Lumen Gentium. Everything in the universe was created to be regulated by the law of God.

The second reading explains that reason very well. There is a reason why all beings are under such laws. Saint Paul wrote to the Colossians that all things were created for the image of the invisible God. The firstborn of all creation. Dominions, principalities and powers, all things were created for him. That includes, moot and academically, the laws of nature. It is also said that in him all things hold together. This image of God and firstborn controls all the laws of creation. He is none other than Jesus Christ.

This Jesus Christ became man and talked to other men. A scholar of the law tried to test him by asking what must he do to inherit eternal life. Jesus didn’t get far. He gave him an answer from the very discipline this guy is familiar of—the Law. Jesus threw a question back at him. “What is written in the Law?” It is a slap on his face! It is tantamount to saying “You are an expert of the law and you do not know that it is the method of going to heaven?” He gave another question as a reply, “Who is my neighbor?” Then Jesus narrated the golden story of a good Samaritan. This story is very very radical. Jesus is trying to erase the old stigma the Jewish had with the Samaritans. It is also radical because he dared to expose the attitudes of religious leaders which every people are trying to avoid that time.

The three readings built up a very pragmatic framework of divine law. You can learn the law externally, when you read book of laws and meditate on them day and night but this method is barely ideal. However, you can also learn the laws from a person, because this law is personified through the incarnation of Jesus Christ. Moses told us that the law is already in our hearts and we only have to carry it out. But Jesus showed us a way to carry it out by giving the story of the Samaritan. Oftentimes, people only see the opposition in the Samaritan and the Levites neglecting that there are three groups here in relation to the law. First, the robbers who are breakers of the laws. You shall not steal but they did. Second, the priest and levite, who are knowledgeable of the laws but not practicing it. Third is the Samaritan, a doer of the law. It is not necessary to ask whether he knows the law by letters, his actions speaks. The law is immaterial if we are not to abide.

Application

A Good Samaritan then is a calling. Jesus is giving a mandate; be a Good Samaritan to others. This mandate is faithfully translated into action by the Boy sScout of the Philippines.

Through the years I can’t help but admire and salute the mission vision and accomplishments of the Boys Scout of the Philippines. They are more noticeable now because Jejomar Binay is already vice president. He is the head of the BSP. To be a boy scout is not to be a bully. It is a commitment to serve those in need. They are training not only to be physically fit but to render service to fellow Filipinos who are in danger, in depressing situation, in conflict with the force of nature, and abused by criminals. I think the presence of the BSP ignites the call to be one with the Samaritan man.

There are three categories of people in relation to the law as I have mentioned. Where do you belong? A robber? A levite? A Good Samaritan?

Prayer

Lord, designer of laws, help us to carry it out. May we mediate on your laws day and night. But more than that, may we learn about it through Jesus Christ that we may put these commandments into action. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ your Son who lives and reigns with you and the Paraclete, one God forever and ever. Amen

Review of New Movies

Here is a review of the new movie Inception;

Writer-director Christopher Nolan explores the realm of dreams in Inception, his first film since his acclaimed box office juggernaut The Dark Knight. The sci-fi thriller's premise sounds simple enough, but its execution by Nolan is anything but. Ostensibly an international heist caper, Inception follows Dom Cobb (Leonardo DiCaprio), an "extractor" whose form of corporate espionage is to invade the dreams of the rich and powerful and pluck their most tightly guarded secrets from the depths of their subconscious. "A single idea from the human mind can build cities. An idea can transform the world and rewrite all the rules," Cobb says at one point.

Cobb is an international fugitive due to a dark deed from his past that prevents him from being able to return stateside to see his children. A shady corporate titan, Mr. Saito (Ken Watanabe), offers Cobb a chance to wipe his past clean and go home. The job? Inception -- planting an idea into a mark's subconscious rather than stealing one. Saito wants Cobb and his longtime point man, Arthur (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), to invade the dreams of Robert Fischer (Cillian Murphy), the heir to an energy conglomerate who is also riddled with daddy issues. Saito wants to take out the competition so to speak.

Cobb and Arthur assemble a team that includes the forger Eames (Tom Hardy), Yusuf the chemist (Avatar's Dileep Rao), and newcomer Ariadne (Ellen Page), an architect who will literally design and build the world of the mark's dreams. Shadowing Dom in the dream realm is the enigamtic Mal (Marion Cotillard), a woman from Dom's past who threatens the entire operation. (Michael Caine, Pete Postlethwaite, Tom Berenger and Lukas Haas pop up in small roles.) The deeper Cobb and his team venture into Fischer's subconscious, the more dangerous the mission becomes and the more likely it is that they could all end up trapped there -- a seeming eternity in the time of the mind and a fate that could render them all vegetables in the real worl

In The Post Behind The Concert Hall

I had a pictorial with Lorraine. For the first time, magkasama na kami sa isang photo.

In the series or rundown sa mga songs ng Paramore from the album Behind Brand New Eyes, naghihintay pa rin ang mga fans ng susundo na single na sisikat but I feel meron na and in just a few days maririnig na ito.

I just wish everything in the music scene will be different. Naandito na siya sa Manila and just doing some interviews pa rin with Philippine Press corps.

From Hey Day To Mid Week

Life is not how many times you wake up. It is how many times you make the most out of being awake.

I have to say na talagang ok na ok ang Monday ko because I thought luluwas na rin si Mama pero she stayed and rested for one more day. It is more about family bonding. How we waited for things and shared meal together habang unti unti naming nababatod na oo nga pala, tag ulan na.

And so maaga pa lang nung Tuesday umalis na sila. I know I will be late the next morning kasi makakatulog pa ako after that.

Isang Tshirt, dalawang face towel at isang malaking tuwalya just to spend some time stretching the body. And that's it, buti nga naglaba ako kasi babagsak ang bumubulusok na ulan pagdating ng hapon.

Kailangan ko ring magsaing after the rain, magpainit ng tubig para pag may emergency at kailangan ng pang kape. All by myself for the whole week. We even texted Je what was happening then. Ang saya!

Then today Wednesday. Midweek.
But it is our choice that makes it unforgettable. Hapon nga talaga umuulan. All I want is to sleep now because maaga pa ako para sa pictorial ko bukas.

Right after this meal and after Endless Love, I will have to say

Good Evening World!!!

New Disciples With The Same Mission

The Easter season concentrates on the ressurection of Jesus and his will to bring us a preview of what and how it will be in heaven when everyone resurrected with Him.

The first three Sundays of Easter gives us an image of a Risen Lord making it known to his disciples. On the first Sunday it was John who witnessed the truth of Jesus rising from the grave. On the second, it was Thomas. Third Sunday, Jesus revealed himself to the seven apostles in the shore.

Now, the Ordinary Time gives us an image of Jesus while on earth searching for his disciples. The first Sunday after the Corpus Christi, we see Jesus giving the prerequisites of how it is to be a disciple. On the second Sunday, that was last Sunday, Jesus called and rejected candidates for discipleship. This Sunday is still a continuation of the topic. Now that audition is over, Jesus is instructing the 72 disciples He had chosen on how they should conduct themselves and discussing to them their missions.

What strucks me is the last part when the disciples reported in amazement that they can drive demons in he name of Christ. Christ reminded them that they do not hav eto be intoxicated by being empowered or by the power itself. Their happiness should lie in the fact that they are in heaven already. Their names were already written. It is something we have to remind ourselves of. Are we doing the mission because we are after the merits in heaven or are we doing it to gain money, fame, and more friends?
Purity of intentions is very significant for Jesus. Remember that it is not you who can drive away the demons but the name of Christ. We are simply instruments of His ministry.

That is why knowing God is very necessary in all of these. I have been driving this point all along. If one knows God then one has something to give. The mission requires knowledge of God, knowledge about redemption, knowledge about the good traits of Christianity. We have to increase our learnings about God and who He is so we can have a weapon in the mission.

People will always ask us if God is like this or like that.Who is God, Where He is when people suffers? These are questions a missionary needs to answer. Puzzles a disciple must solve.

Pray for the Lord that He increases vocations to priesthood and religious life. By knowing the qualifications of a disciple, we can grow in honest stewardship and makeourselves anew laborer for the harvest.

Now it is a call and a reminder for seminarians alike not to bring extra or excess baggages, excess weights. Jesus said bring no money bags and other stuffs not necessary. That means that seminarians and all those who are willing to follow the Lord must not bring cellphones, laptops, gameboys that will distract them from the foci. I remember when we were in college, we are not allowed to watch television all the time, only in recreation period. We are not supposed to bring expensive watches and other techno gadgets that may hinder us from the formation.

Jesus said greet no one along the way. Now He is urging his dear seminarians... text and chat no one along the formation years. Too much attachments outside the seminary may lead to being defocused.

Being a missionary of Christ is not easy. Let us pray for those. Let us pray we may be one. Lord increase our Faith.

Against Certain Deep Solitaire

Paunawa;

Inom dito, yosi doon. Hindot dito, dekwat diyan. Sugal dito rambol doon. Tunog Igorot [siguro may lahi sila].

Tindero ng honey bee si Biloy. Kinukuha niya ito kay Mang Saldy na may-ari ng pulutpukyutan. Dinadala niya ito sa over pass kung saan niya nakakatabi ang mga tindera ng sigarilyo at basahan. Araw araw ang linya niya'y;

Technology; Terrors and Threats

kopya ito from a discussion I have writen sa isang page sa fb...

In the advent of technology, everything became instant. Rapid development signaled that we must be in rapid motion too. Human beings alike cannot be divorced from technical and mechanical activities so and so. The human brain became more and more usable. Utilizing the most of human potentialities which was never before seen in history. Old scholastic tradition needs 70 percent of study time just to read books and compile information. Much of the time is wasted for chat and household chores. But when technology came to place, people augmented new flavor for human activity. First one was the auditory co-activation. Auditory Co-Activation simply put, is the ability and possibility of doing human activities along with phonoentertainment altogether without compromising the the said activity. You can listen to a phonograph and do the household chores at the same time. Later on, a transistor radio was introduced.

Another innovation, the TV, came into our consciousness. Human tried watching while doing the same work just like the way we do with radio. It worked although not most of the time. You cannot bring a TV set into your bathroom unless portable. You cannot drive and concentrate on TV at the same time. Mostly, it is radio which accompanies us in our daily activities. But since you can open the television and hear the sound coming from it, many remained fixated to that. Until Cellphone entered the scene. You can bring cellphones wherever you are. While waiting for a bus to ride, you can text anybody. While having a conversation in a launch, you can text when what they are presenting is not so special. Even in classrooms where you think it is totally forbidden, some can take time to sneak at their bags and see if there is a new message in their inbox. Truly, another world consumed us. We are not only living in a real world but also in a reel world, a virtual world to be exact. So, while talking to your grandma at home, you can also converse with your boss who's on the other line.

It is something that is normal nowadays. That simply proves that the human mind is capable of doing several things all at the same time. Psychiatric researches show that human learning is not only bound in one activity as that of a lecture type inside the classroom. The attention of students vary from time to time, to be exact, from 20 minutes to another 20 minutes. That means, before they get bored in a discussion, the professor needs to shift to another activity. That is why it is not advisable anymore to do a half day lessons in Math. Are you still doing that? Every 20 minutes a new teacher will enter the classroom door so that the attention will be scanned. You have Math, then after 20 minutes it is English, then after 20 minutes it's PE. Something happened to the attention and concentration training of individuals. We want to do it, but as soon as we get tired of it {which is easily happening} you will change your activity.

That maybe the reason why, in so far as we live in a very knowledge friendly world with internet and on line encyclopedia; where everything is accessible, this generation did not produced any philosopher. A well informed person is a million miles different from a wise person. We may be knowledgeable but not wise. Or maybe we have produced one {or two} but we never notice them and probably never will because this multi tasking environment made us busy to be busy all the time.

For you what is the advantage and disadvantage of having a multi-tasking personality?

Hovering Around Metropolitan Without Siren

It was after the inagural speech delivered noon of Wednesday that everything in the EDSA horizon drastically change. Actually, I have to confess that this is the first Friday of my life that I enjoyed a trip along the entire Epifanio de los Santos Avenue. I reached SLEX before 5pm knowing that I rode the bus by 4pm in Cubao.

Yes I was in Manila kanina. I am supposed to watch the play Call Time in UST but instead I decided to claim Lorraine after 23 years of waiting for me there. Isipin mo nagpunta pa ako ng Mercury avenue for that hindi ko rin pala siya makukuha dun. Nasa Cubao lang din pala siya.

I am so happy having Lorraine. All I am waiting na lang sa ngayon is teh time na makakapagpicture taking na kami together. Naghahanap na ako ng photo studio. All we need is a photo.

While on my way at nakasakay ako sa bus going to Cubao, may sumakay na isang babae at namimigay siya ng isang parang calling card. Nakasulat dun sa piece of paper na "Hi I'm Lexi and an out of school youth, ulila na po ako at kailangan ko ng bla bla bla..."
She came from a family of celebrities.

Si Andi, all she has to do is strike a pose at kikita siya ng libo libo.

I don't know.

If only I can do something for Lexi at sa mga kagaya niya.

Now the challenge is upon me. Now that I have Lorraine kailangan matutunan ko ang wastong paggamit sa kanya, mafamiliarize ko dapat kung paano siya babalansehin at kung papano iikot ang ulo ng audiences with our exhibitions para kumita ako ng malaki at soon I can exact some if not all the needs of teh impoverished. It is a call of being human.
More than that....... it is a call of being a Filipino!

Life Without Music Is... ?

- Super Boring

- Definitely I won't have a job because

1. There would be no FM stations to play a song and no radio hosts.
2. There will only be bar tenders in a club and no DJs at all.
3. Movies, plays and TV shows would have no more music backgrounds and no need for a music scorer.
4. There is no piano to play and no children will ask me to teach them how to sing.

- There is less excitement

- I have no one to idolize for there wouldn't be any rock bands, high registered singers, no more conductors, no composers, no arrangers, no orchestrator, and maybe no Justin Bieber.

- Dancers will never be in sync all the time.
